
Dhanbad, Feb 23: The Electrical and Communication Engineering (ECE) department of BIT Sindri organized a webinar where several foreign experts discussed the 5G technology to mark the National Science Week today.
ECE head of the department Prof MG Tiwary said that several events were organized by the Electrical and Communication Engineering Society (ECES), an official wing of the department, under ‘Techfest 23’ in which online webinar on ‘5G Technology and Beyond’ was the centre of the attraction.
Prof Ramjee Prasad, the president of CTIF Global Capsule and an eminent professor at Aarhus University, Denmark, delivered an online keynote address on the subject. Prof is an alumnus of BIT Sindri’s Electronics and Communication Engineering department.
In his address Prof Prasad explained advancements in the field of wireless communications technology and shed light on research areas of slicing networks, liquid antennas, wireless power grids, and intelligent reflecting surfaces for future researchers.
He stressed the importance of working on the technology with innovation in action for the benefit of society and human beings. He presented the roadmap of 6G technologies and suggested new researchers concentrate on working in areas such as massive MIMO, optical wireless connections, cloud computing services, and hyper-connected resilient networks for assisted vehicle-to-everything communication. Prof. Prasad also answered the queries of the participants during the session.
HoD Prof Tiwari said that in the morning the events started with science quiz ‘Parikshit’ followed by science debate’ Shashrath’.
More than 200 students from BIT Sindri, eminent researchers, and faculties from India and abroad participated in the webinar, including Shashank Shekhar from Faridabad, Shreedeo from Bangalore, and Radosveta Sokullu from Turkey, and many more from Denmark and France.
“ The main motto of the webinar was to create awareness among the audience about upcoming 5G and 6G technology,” said Prof Tiwari. 3rd semester ECE students Esha and Tushar anchored the webinar. ECE Society professor in-charge Dr Imteyaz Ahmed and president Shubhada Mandavi proposed a vote of thanks.
